"Won't Make Good" Gear
Have you ever EXTENSIVELY researched something & after finally pulling the expensive trigger
been completely let down? The company didn't make it good and then won't make good to stand behind it?
Welcome to a place to share your over promised and under delivered gear stories, so others don't make the same mistake.
FAILURE GRADE: ARC'TERYX has earned the max five middle finger salutes
My failed ARC'TERYX Alpha SV started this website to warn others
"Our most durable GORE-TEX PRO shell is designed for severe (SV) alpine conditions." But NOT designed for surviving my 7 days of resort skiing....
I chose ARC'TERYX because EVERY review I read said it was an excellent jacket that was durable, weather proof and worth it's exorbitant price (over $700). To top it off it was supposedly from a company that stands behind its products.
It was foiled by my brand new PRET ski helmet, that wore and put a hole in it. Ironically, not only do they call out the "durability" of this jacket, but they also claim it is "helmet compatible" and went as far to trademark the name of the hood "StormHood™" You would think trademarking a hood name would make it strong. I guess they consider my standing in a 45 minute lift line as too extreme of conditions for their jacket to handle.
After reaching out to ARC'TERYX there official response is that they could care less and did NOT stand behind my jacket. They told me I was out of luck and denied any responsibility. Sucks to be me.
I would NEVER buy from ARC'TERYX again, when there are too many other great outdoor gear companies that will go above and beyond to make it right. I hope you learn from my bad experience to choose a different brand.
